Marking Sardar Patel’s Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a fleet of 30 electric buses at the Statue of Unity.

Manufactured by JBM Auto, these 12-meter AC electric buses are set to replace conventional diesel ones, ensuring tourists enjoy a serene, pollution-free experience.

As a part of the broader environmental drive, the Prime Minister also launched a public bike-sharing initiative.

Additionally, he oversaw the distribution of city gas, a venture facilitated by Gujarat Gas Limited. Moreover, the provision of golf carts was introduced to enhance transportation convenience for tourists exploring the Statue of Unity.

CESL Deploys Electric Buses in Statue of Unity

The electric buses in Statue of Unity are a collaborative effort between Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) and the Statue of Unity Area Development and Tourism Governance Authority (SOUADTGA).

This initiative falls under the ambit of the Green Initiative aimed at bolstering the environmental sustainability of transportation services at the Statue of Unity.

These electric buses are deployed under the National Electric Bus Program Phase-I.

Part of the 225 electric buses order designated for deployment by the Central government through CESL, these 30 will exclusively be used for the tourism sector of the Statue of Unity.

This decision was made in response to a request from the Statue of Unity authority to deploy these extra 30 electric buses to enhance the experience of visitors exploring the wider tourism area.
