PMI Adds 22 Electric Buses in Rajkot: Gondal Charging Station Launched

PMI Electro Mobility and the Rajkot Municipal Corporation added 22 electric buses in Rajkot and inaugurated a new electric bus charging station at the Gondal depot on August 5, 2024.

The Rajkot Municipal Corporation launched 22 new electric buses in Rajkot on August 5, 2024, in a significant advancement for sustainable transportation.

These buses, manufactured and operated by PMI Electro Mobility, one of India’s premier electric bus manufacturers, are set to transform the city’s public transport system.

The flag-off ceremony was attended by key figures including Mr. Pradeep Dav, former Mayor of Rajkot; Mr. Jamin Thakar, Chairman of Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC); Mr. Mukesh Doshi, BJP President; and Mr. Swapnil Khare, Deputy Municipal Commissioner of RMC.

With the addition of these new buses, the total number of electric buses in Rajkot now stands at 109.

The launch of these electric buses in Rajkot marks a significant step towards a more sustainable and efficient public transport system.

Electric Buses in Rajkot will Reduce 650 tons of CO2

The 33-seater electric buses are designed with semi-low floors to facilitate easy access for passengers with disabilities and provide a comfortable ride for all.

As part of Gujarat’s zero-carbon public transport initiative, the new electric buses are zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) expected to reduce over 650 tons of CO2 emissions annually.

These new electric buses are equipped with fast-charging lithium-ion batteries and include modern features like a Real-Time Passenger Information System (PIS), panic buttons for emergencies, a Vehicle Location & Tracking System, CCTV cameras, a public address system, stop request buttons, and a Fire Detection & Alarm System.

The driver’s dashboard is ergonomically designed for an intuitive driving experience.

Gondal Bus Charging Station Inaugurated

Along with the new electric buses, the Rajkot Municipal Corporation also inaugurated the Gondal Electric Bus Charging Station.

The station is equipped with five 240kW GBT electric bus charging points. and will operate 24/7, ensuring continuous service with comprehensive maintenance and support.
