Vijayanand Travels Orders 100 Volvo 9600 Buses
In a game-changing move set to revolutionize private bus operations in India, Vijayanand Travels, also known as VRL, has made waves with a monumental order.
The company has placed an unprecedented order for 100 Volvo 9600 buses to fortify its fleet.
Earlier in August, Vijayanand Travels had already garnered attention with an order for 550 intercity buses from Volvo and Eicher, valued at approximately ₹500 crore.
This encompassed 500 units of Eicher Intercity 13.5m AC and non-AC sleeper coaches, alongside 50 Volvo 9600 luxury sleeper coaches.
Buoyed by the success of the initial 50 Volvo buses, Vijayanand Travels has now upped the ante by ordering an additional 50 units, bringing the total count of newly ordered Volvo 9600 buses to a staggering 100.
“The initial feedback from customers, staff, and the public regarding the first 50 buses has been exceptional, thanks to their distinctive design and appeal. Encouraged by this success, we’ve decided to order 50 more units. The increasing adoption of this model by other operators further cements its status as the top choice in the bus industry,” says Shiva Sankeshwar, Managing Director of Vijayanand Travels Private Limited.
With a valuation exceeding 100 crores, this latest order stands as the largest ever placed by a private bus operator in India.
Manufactured entirely at the Volvo factory in Hoskote, these buses are a testament to Vijayanand Travels’ ambitious expansion plans across India.
Operating in multiple states including Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, and Goa, the company aims to solidify its position as an industry leader.
This purchase marks a historic milestone for Vijayanand Travels, reaffirming its dominance in the market.
With this strategic investment, the company not only aims to increase its operational capacity but also to elevate passenger comfort and safety standards to unprecedented levels.

In 2011, VRL placed a comparable order for 100 triple-axle Volvo 9400XL coaches.
