The Bus Insider — February 2026 Issue Is Here!
We’re back with the February edition of The Bus Insider — this time confronting one of the most pressing technical debates facing India’s bus industry.
As bus fires continue to make headlines, a difficult question has emerged – are BS6 engines more prone to bus fires? This issue takes a deep, structured look at the transition to BS6 — examining higher exhaust temperatures, DPF regeneration cycles, tighter engine packaging, and increased electrical complexity.
Through on-ground conversations with bus body builders and fleet operators, along with insights from industry leaders and policy voices, we explore whether the ecosystem transitioned alongside the technology — or whether integration, training, diagnostics, and validation are still catching up.
At the same time, we spotlight progress. Four mid-sized manufacturers — Synaty Automotive, Sanatan Bus Body Builders, Sita Singh and Sons, and Tirth Automotive — have secured the now-mandatory AIS 153 certification, signalling a decisive shift toward professionalization and higher safety standards.
Analytical, balanced, and rooted in industry realities, this issue moves beyond speculation to ask what scientific investigation, stronger integration, and collective accountability must look like in the BS6 era.
