Switch Mobility, a leading electric mobility solutions provider, has secured a substantial order for 70 buses from Stagecoach, a prominent public transport company.

The order comprises 10 Switch Metrocity 9.5m electric buses, slated for deployment on Route W11 in London, and 60 Slimline Solo 8.5m, Euro 6 certified buses under the Optare brand, an integral part of Switch Mobility.

These Solo buses are set to assist Stagecoach in gradually replacing a significant portion of their existing Solo fleet throughout the UK.

The Metrocity models are scheduled to commence operations in early 2024, while the Solo buses are expected to roll out during the first half of the same year.

Switch Mobility has already been delivering electric buses to Stagecoach, marking a step towards a more sustainable public transportation network.

Switch Mobility Already has an Order of 20 Electric Buses For Stagecoach

In June 2022, Switch Mobility received a contract from Stagecoach to supply 20 Electric Buses.

This procurement includes two versions of the Switch Metrocity: the 8.7-meter model designated for Walthamstow and the 9.5-meter model intended for Lea Interchange.

The Optare Slimline Solo 8.5m is a low-floor, single-deck bus that is designed for urban and interurban transportation. It is 2.33 meters wide, which makes it narrower than most other buses. This makes it ideal for use in narrow streets and congested areas.

The Slimline Solo 8.5m is powered by a Euro 6 engine that has a gross vehicle weight of 11,300 kilograms and can seat up to 25 passengers. The bus is also equipped with safety features, including ABS, ESC, and TCS.

Sam Greer, COO of Stagecoach, shared his enthusiasm about welcoming an additional 70 low emission vehicles to their fleet. This move aligns with Stagecoach’s sustainability goals of achieving zero emissions by 2050 and transitioning to a fully electric bus fleet by 2035.
