Free Bus Rides For Women in Delhi

After taking office, Delhi’s newly appointed Health and Transport Minister, Pankaj Singh, confirmed that the free bus service for women would continue under the BJP-led government.

He further instructed officials to prepare an in-depth report on the operations of Mohalla Clinics to evaluate their effectiveness.

Singh, who assumed responsibility for the health, transport, and information technology portfolios, was sworn in on Wednesday, joining five other ministers in the newly formed Rekha Gupta government.

In his first public statement, Singh emphasized that the free public transport initiative for women would not be discontinued.

He reassured citizens that the government remains committed to enhancing public transport facilities and adding new benefits to the service. Singh, a 48-year-old first-time legislator and a prominent Purvanchali leader, is a dentist by profession turned politician.

The continuity of the free transport service for women is seen as a significant move for the Delhi government, further strengthening its commitment to supporting women’s empowerment through accessible public services.
