The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is set to launch live bus tracking through its mobile application.
The service will first be introduced in Pune, covering over 700 buses, with full public access expected by the end of August 2025.

MSRTC Live Bus Tracking: How it works
Passengers will be able to view the live location of their MSRTC bus by entering the Trip Code on their ticket into the MSRTC mobile app.
This feature allows users to track the bus’s current position, get estimated arrival times, and plan their boarding accordingly.
Key features of the MSRTC mobile app:
- Live bus tracking via Trip Code
- Online ticket booking
- Route and ETA details
- Safety tools like reporting breakdowns or emergencies
Arun Siya, MSRTC Divisional Controller for Pune, noted, “The app is currently functional internally and being used by MSRTC staff for operational monitoring. A public version will be activated following successful trial runs.”

MSRTC Live Bus Tracking: Smart mobility for public transport
This rollout is part of a broader MSRTC strategy to introduce smart mobility solutions across Maharashtra. The agency expects this feature to improve commuter satisfaction, reduce waiting times at bus stands, and attract more passengers to its state-run transport services.
Once deployed, Pune will be among the first cities in the state to offer live tracking of MSRTC buses, marking a significant step toward intelligent and responsive public transit systems.
“If this live tracking feature really works, it will be a game-changer for regular commuters like me. It will save time, reduce uncertainty, and make travel much less stressful,” said Raman Waghmode, a frequent Pune-Nashik passenger.
