Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe (LVB), the public transport operator in Leipzig, has signed a contract with Solaris Bus and Coach to procure 40 articulated Solaris Urbino 18 electric buses. This major step will support the city’s transition to clean, sustainable mobility.

The first 15 buses will arrive in late 2026, followed by the remaining 25 in mid-2027. Equipped with modular drive systems, each bus will accommodate up to 120 passengers, with two dedicated to driver training.

The Urbino 18 electric buses will be powered by Solaris High Energy batteries with a usable capacity of over 570 kWh. The fleet can be charged both at depots via plug-in and on-route through pantographs.

To enhance fleet performance, the buses will be equipped with the eSConnect fleet management system, allowing remote monitoring and preconditioning while charging.

Solaris’ Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe order comes just two days after Nobina Sverige ordered a record 180 Solaris buses for Malmö.
