IVECO BUS has delivered 13 new E-WAY midibuses to EMT Malaga, further expanding the city’s electric fleet. The new arrivals are part of a larger 19-bus order and take the number of electric buses in Malaga’s public transport network to over 80.

The delivery was marked with a formal ceremony in Malaga, attended by Mayor Francisco de la Torre and other local officials. Backed partly by Next Generation EU funds, the total project cost exceeds €12 million, underlining the city’s strong push towards clean, modern mobility.

“These new E-WAY buses move us closer to a fully electric fleet,” said Fabrizio Toscano, Sales Manager at IVECO BUS Iberica. “They combine sustainability with comfort and high operational standards.”

The E-WAY midibuses measure 9.5 metres in length and 2.33 metres in width, and they can carry up to 55 passengers.

Their compact size is perfect for the tight, winding streets of Malaga. Each bus has a low floor, wheelchair space, and both automatic and manual ramps for full accessibility.

Features include LED lighting, USB charging, and real-time route info for passengers inside the buses. For the drivers, there’s an upgraded ergonomic cockpit and digital mirror system.

Also, internal surveillance is now fitted as standard, upping the security quotient of the buses.

Beyond the buses themselves, IVECO BUS is also offering fleet support, including maintenance services, driver training, and IVECO ON – its connected system for live diagnostics and performance monitoring.

With this move, Malaga is now one of Europe’s most progressive public transport cities. It also goes on to show how targeted investments in e-mobility can make a real impact on the ground. The partnership with IVECO BUS is more than just a deal for vehicle supply – it’s a long-term collaboration aimed at reshaping how the city moves.
