Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has outlined the government’s plan to enhance the Haryana Roadways fleet, aiming to improve the accessibility and convenience of public transportation.

The announcement was made while the Chief Minister was presenting the state budget for the financial year 25-26 on March 17, 2025.

A total of 1025 new Haryana Roadways buses will be procured, all conforming to BS6 standards. This includes 500 non-AC ordinary buses and 150 AC deluxe buses.

In addition, to make public transport more eco-friendly, the government will also add 375 electric buses to the Haryana Roadways fleet.

In addition to the new Haryana Roadways buses, Saini unveiled a series of ambitious measures to revamp the state’s public transportation infrastructure.

New Bus Depots Under PPP Model

One of the key highlights of the CM’s announcement is the construction of state-of-the-art bus depots across strategic locations in Haryana, including Pipli, Karnal, Sector-36 (Gurugram), Ballabhgarh (Faridabad), and Sonipat.

These depots will be developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, a move that is expected to inject efficiency, innovation, and advanced infrastructure into the state’s public transport network.

Additionally, a new transport building, with an investment of Rs 71 crore, will be built to further streamline the operations.

Live Tracking Facility for Buses

Saini also outlined plans for the introduction of live bus tracking systems, a first for Haryana’s Roadways.

Modeled after railway tracking services, this system will allow passengers to track buses in real-time, providing greater certainty and convenience.

Moreover, the Chief Minister emphasized a commitment to inclusivity, announcing that Divyang (differently-abled) citizens would benefit from free bus travel, making the transport system more accessible to all.

Automated Bus-Washing Depots

The state government also plans to introduce automated bus-washing facilities in every district.

Similarly, bus stands will be equipped with modern cleaning machines to maintain cleanliness across the network.

Life Time Tax and Automated Testing Stations

A significant reform in the state’s motor vehicle regulations is also on the cards. The government will replace the current annual vehicle tax system with a one-time lifetime tax for motor vehicles, simplifying the tax process for vehicle owners.

In addition, automated vehicle testing stations will be set up under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules through the PPP model, ensuring better vehicle fitness checks and greater transparency in the system.
