Shared electric mobility player GreenCell Mobility has secured an order of over 1200 electric buses under the prestigious PM E-Bus Sewa Scheme.

The massive deployment includes 472 Eicher electric buses for the state of Madhya Pradesh and 750 EKA electric buses for Andhra Pradesh.

These contracts were awarded through Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) as part of the Government of India’s broader strategy to roll out 10,000 electric buses across the nation, ensuring eco-friendly, efficient urban transport.

To fulfill this ambitious undertaking, GreenCell Mobility has joined forces with two major OEMs. In Madhya Pradesh, the company will deploy Eicher electric buses in collaboration with VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV).

Meanwhile, the rollout in Andhra Pradesh will be powered by a partnership with Pinnacle Mobility Solutions’ EKA Mobility.

These alliances will see GreenCell operational in 17 cities across both states, further expanding its footprint in India’s green mobility revolution. This follows GreenCell’s already impressive network of 900 electric buses operating in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO of VE Commercial Vehicles, expressed pride in the partnership, noting that Eicher’s electric buses—proven performers across 1.4 crore kilometers of Indian roads—will now serve the very region that has long been home to Eicher Trucks and Buses.

Dr. Sudhir Mehta, Chairman of EKA Mobility, echoed similar sentiments, calling the collaboration with GreenCell and the Andhra Pradesh Government a vital step in building climate-conscious cities and reducing the nation’s carbon footprint.

The PM E-Bus Sewa initiative, led by CESL, is central to the national mission of transforming India’s public transport with clean, battery-electric buses.

For FY 2024-25 alone, 4,588 electric buses were tendered, with GreenCell winning a significant portion through its competitive technology and operational readiness.

GreenCell’s next-gen electric buses are designed with the future of urban transport in mind. Each bus offers over 250 km range per charge, fast-charging capabilities, AI-driven energy management, and zero tailpipe emissions. Passenger comfort and safety are top priorities, with features such as air suspension, ergonomic seating, real-time GPS tracking, CCTV, low-noise interiors, and advanced safety systems.
