Tata Motors and Iveco Group Begin New Chapter in Global Commercial Mobility

Tata Motors and Iveco Group have formally come together to build a global commercial mobility enterprise, combining their vehicle portfolios, engineering capabilities and international networks.
The combined business has a presence in more than 130 countries, annual sales volumes of approximately 590,000 units and revenues of around €21 billion (over ₹2.28 lakh crore), positioning it among the world’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturers.
The development was announced at a global press meet in Turin, Italy, on November 3, 2026. The new enterprise brings together Tata Motors’ strong presence in India and emerging markets with Iveco Group’s established positions across Europe and Latin America. According to the companies, the combined entity ranks fourth globally among commercial vehicle manufacturers.
Global Scale Across Manufacturing and Technology
The combined enterprise operates 27 manufacturing sites and 25 research and development centres, supported by approximately 9,300 sales and service centres. It employs more than 73,000 people across six continents.
The portfolios cover a broad range of commercial mobility requirements. Tata Motors brings vehicles ranging from sub-one-tonne small commercial vehicles to 55-tonne trucks, along with passenger transport solutions offering 10 to 51 seats. Iveco Group adds light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles, city and intercity buses, and FPT’s powertrain capabilities across on-road, off-road, marine and power-generation applications.
“Two strong and successful organisations, united by shared values, a common commitment to sustainable mobility and an ambition to shape the future of commercial transportation, have come together to create a truly global commercial mobility enterprise. We will invest for the long term, enable ideas and capabilities to flow in both directions, and harness our combined scale, reach and talent.”

Technology and Powertrain Capabilities
The combination brings together expertise in conventional combustion engines, natural gas, battery-electric vehicles, hydrogen and other emerging low- and zero-emission technologies. The companies aim to use these complementary capabilities to accelerate product development and address different customer and market requirements.
Girish Wagh, MD and CEO of Tata Motors, said the combination would create opportunities to strengthen engineering, technology, sourcing, distribution and customer networks.
Our ambition is to build a stronger enterprise by combining our strengths in engineering, new age technologies, sourcing, distribution and customer networks. We will accelerate innovation, broaden our reach and bring advanced solutions to customers faster and more competitively.”

Brand Identity and Customer Continuity
Iveco Group will retain its headquarters in Turin, Italy, along with its brands, teams and industrial footprint. Tata Motors will support Iveco Group’s existing strategy and investment plans while both organisations explore opportunities to leverage their combined strengths.
Existing customer contracts, dealer and supplier relationships, warranties, aftermarket commitments and captive financing solutions will continue unchanged, supported by the same dedicated teams and networks.
Iveco Group CEO Olof Persson described the development as a defining moment for the company. He said the combination with Tata Motors offers an opportunity to build on Iveco’s industrial heritage and “unlock new possibilities” while creating a stronger future.
For the global bus and commercial vehicle industry, the combination brings together complementary strengths in vehicle manufacturing, powertrain technology and international distribution.
The bus business is particularly significant, with Tata Motors’ presence in high-growth markets complementing Iveco Bus and Heuliez’s established capabilities in city and intercity transport. The long-term opportunity will lie in how effectively engineering, technology and market access translate into new products and greater customer choice.
