2024 TNSTC Diwali Special Buses Routes and Depot Details Announced
This year, the TNSTU will operate about 26,692 Diwali special buses. This includes 14,086 buses before Diwali and 12,846 buses post-Diwali. This article details terminal information, bus routes, and online booking options.
The Tamil Nadu government has announced today that it is going to operate 26,692 Diwali special buses to facilitate passengers’ travel to their hometowns during the 2024 Diwali festival.
As per the official Government press release dated October 21, 2024, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Undertakings (TNSTU) will operate special buses both before and after Diwali.
A total of 14,086 Diwali special buses will be operational from October 28 to October 30.
Additionally, for passengers coming back from their hometowns, TNSTU will operate an additional 12,846 buses from November 2 to November 4, 2024.

TNSTC Diwali Special Buses 2024
1. Before Diwali – 14,086 Buses – October 28 to October 30
The TNSTU will operate a total of 14,086 buses before Diwali from October 28 to October 30. This includes 2,092 daily buses from Chennai and 4,900 special buses, resulting in a total of 11,176 buses for those three days.
Additionally, there will be 2,910 special buses from other towns during the same period.

For passengers returning from their hometowns post-Diwali, the TNSTU will operate 12,846 Diwali special buses from November 2 to November 4.

MTC Will Operate Special Link Buses
The Chennai MTC will also operate link buses from CMBT to Kilambakkam and Madhavaram from where passengers can board the Diwali special buses.
